How Penny and the Brownstone Buddies Build Emotional Hardiness in Kids
Toni Kennedy
Meet Penny and her Brownstone Buddies, the heart of the WPP Learning Lab curriculum. Through daily adventures and relatable challenges, these characters help children understand, name, and manage big emotions.
The curriculum leverages the trusted voice of Penny from the "What’s Poppin' Penny?" podcast to guide children through real-life scenarios. This playful yet research-backed approach builds what experts call "emotional hardiness" — the ability to bounce back from stress and frustration with strength and awareness.
With printable worksheets, home and classroom activities, and structured SEL lessons, children are introduced to coping strategies in a way that feels natural. Whether you're a parent or teacher, Penny's voice and stories offer a consistent, safe foundation for emotional learning.
